More details have surfaced regarding the preview for this year’s Salone del Mobile. It seems this year the show will be honoring the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. Many brands have already adhered to echoing this Renaissance master’s ideas.
This year’s edition will be celebrating Leonardo Da Vinci’s 500th anniversary of death. With that in mind, the fair organizers have two major installations planned to celebrate his life and legacy. One of the installations, DE-SIGNO, organized by curator Davide Rampello, will try to draw a connection between Da Vinci’s engineering and contemporary Italian furniture designers. The other, Aqua, by Marco Balich, will be more focused on the mechanics of water which was one of the Renaissance polymath’s obsessions.
This year those who will be attending Salone del Mobile can expect or find a range of displays that will pay tribute to Renaissance ideas and Leonardo Da Vinci and incorporate them into modern design. There’s also some buzz around “S Project”, a new display format expected to bring together multiple brands and products (both newcomers and usual guests) into one single space.
