New York-based Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) just unveiled the updated Capiz Lounge Bar at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. The renovation of the existing lounge bar area was inspired by Boston’s rich nautical and shipping history, including the city’s iconic wharves. Reflecting on Boston’s rich academic heritage, the hospitality space is also inspired by the city’s intellectual nature and many libraries. The two areas, The Bar and The Library, are visually united through a number of design elements and materials, such as blackened metal and brass, leathers and velvet, and dark stained woods, making it a strong lounge bar ideas statement.
Warm and elegant, the Capiz Lounge is reborn with a medley of warm materials like emerald green fireclay tiles, brass details, and oak millwork. Spread across 3,100 square feet, the 105-seat lounge is anchored by a custom wicker bottle display composed of bronze metal mesh and oak, while the oval-shaped bar, which is topped with Caesar stone, is accented with lounge seating upholstered in rich brown leather.
Bar tables mirror the brown leather with a distressed wooden appearance beneath Edison bulb pendants suspended in a spiral. Additional lounge seating furniture is wrapped in grey leather.
Among entrance, guests are greeted by rich materiality, from the grand oval-shaped bar at the centre of the space, featuring a Caesar stone countertop and Emerald fireclay tile mounted in a chevron pattern to bar stools and dining chairs upholstered in rich brown leathers. Surrounding tables have a distressed wood appearance while additional seating is upholstered in grey leather. Edison bulb light pendants arranged in a spiral shape illuminate the bar design area while acting as a form of art in themselves.
As guests move into The Library, they embrace into a slightly more intimate space, complete with custom-designed wood shelving, a gas fireplace, a vintage-inspired map of Boston, and the same emerald fireclay tile found on the bar. Long, communal dining tables feature integrated power and can be transformed into a buffet table for private events. Banquette seating along one wall is upholstered in navy blue velvet, while custom-designed lamps are integrated into the back.

To further infuse warmth, a feature wall is outfitted with custom wood shelving as well as the same fireclay tiling found at the bar. A gas fireplace and vintage-inspired map of Boston are installed to establish a residential flair.
