1. Conrad New York Midtown<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Stonehill Taylor<\/strong> was tasked with turning the former London New York hotel into the new luxury 563-room Conrad New York Midtown<\/strong>. Stonehill Taylor\u2019s design exudes calm and elegance, reminiscent of the upscale Midtown residence of a contemporary art collector, with an emphasis on art throughout the property. While the d\u00e9cor is sleek and modern, it aims to achieve a timeless feel.<\/p>\n

2. Moxy Chelsea<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Stonehill Taylor<\/strong>\u2019s architectural design for the new 37-story, 349-key Moxy Chelsea<\/strong> hotel is inspired by the dichotomy that exists within the surrounding Flower District, the charm of greenery spilling out of the gritty warehouse-style buildings. In the property, industrial and natural elements come together to create a welcoming destination with a unique NYC aesthetic.\u00a0The hotel houses a full food and beverage program designed by the Rockwell Group<\/strong><\/a> in association with the Tao Group, with Yabu Pushelberg<\/a><\/strong> providing Interior Design<\/strong> for the lobby and guestrooms.<\/p>\n

3. Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Just steps from the Chelsea Flower District, The Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel<\/strong> marks the newest New York branch of the acclaimed international brand. For the interior design, New York-based design firm Stonehill Taylor<\/strong> played on the dichotomy of the hotel\u2019s surroundings: creating the feeling of venturing into a secret garden tucked away in a decidedly industrial neighborhood.<\/p>\n

4. Crosby Street Hotel<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Located in the heart of SoHo, The Crosby Street Hotel<\/strong> is the first hotel outside of London for Firmdale Hotels. Stonehill Taylor<\/strong> worked with Interior Designer Kit Kemp to complete the design of the 86 guestrooms, 99-seat screening room, meeting rooms, guest library, drawing rooms, lounge, and lobby bar and restaurant. The hotel earned LEED Gold Certification and is the first hotel in New York State to achieve this designation.<\/p>\n

5. Park Terrace Hotel & The Bryant Residences<\/strong><\/h4>\n

With impeccable views of Bryant Park, the Park Terrace Hotel<\/strong> is part of The Bryant 16 West 40\u2019s extensive program, which also includes 2,500 SF of retail, 25,500 SF of restaurant space, and 57 luxury residential condominiums. The 32-story building, designed by David Chipperfield and executed by Stonehill Taylor<\/strong>, has a total of 226 guestrooms featuring interiors by Stonehill Taylor<\/strong>. Reflecting the nearby park, the design, described as \u201cbright, fresh and airy with a d\u00e9cor inspired by natural harmony,\u201d maintains a residential aesthetic while delivering a high level of style and function.<\/p>\n

6. Hilton Brooklyn New York<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"Stonehill<\/p>\n

Stonehill Taylor<\/strong> designed a new build, 196 key boutique hotel for Hilton<\/strong> in Brooklyn\u2019s downtown neighborhood, Boerum Hill. The distinctly unique concept is based on the neighborhood\u2019s historic production of ropes used in shipping and sailing. The rope-making process is the most influential aspect of the design, as Schermerhorn Street was the longest street available for stretching rope during the early 19th century, eventually known as the \u201crope walk.\u201d This is found in design elements throughout the hotel including the lobby\u2019s \u201cwoven rope art\u201d sculpture and the guestrooms\u2019 knotted carpet detailing and accent wall coverings, featuring hand-drawn vignettes of rope-making and shipbuilding.<\/p>\n

7. Refinery Hotel<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Refinery Hotel<\/strong> was originally built in 1912 to house high-end retail and tea salon on the first floor and various factories, predominantly hat making, on the upper floors. This duality is reflected in the design of the hotel with refined public spaces in the lobby area and a more industrial and raw elegance in the guestrooms and rooftop bar. Inspired by the original intent of the building, Stonehill Taylor worked to recreate the historic structure in a modern way, all while celebrating its colorful past.<\/p>\n

8. The Whitby<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For Firmdale Hotels\u2019 second New York property, Stonehill Taylor<\/strong> designed a new, 97,000 square foot building in Midtown Manhattan featuring interiors by Firmdale co-owner and visionary designer, Kit Kemp. In keeping with the surrounding architecture of the neighborhood, the structure has an elegant limestone fa\u00e7ade, however the building\u2019s distinctive form shaped by extensive balconies broadcasting the hotel as a destination of which to take note. Several suite balconies and terraces lend the 18-story building a distinctive shape that gradually scales back as the building rises.<\/p>\n

9. Paramount Hotel<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As Executive Architect, Stonehill Taylor<\/strong> worked with a variety of teams to revive the historic Paramount Hotel<\/strong> with a renovation of the public spaces, restaurant, and facade. The new lobby\u2019s grand space was refocused to facilitate a diversity of interactions with a mixed arrangement of seating areas and comfort zones.<\/p>\n

To strengthen the landmark\u2019s exterior presence, the designers drew inspiration from the property\u2019s original architect, Thomas Lamb. Ornate marquees that were once the key exterior features are brought back with a fresh take, standing in contrast to the clean and minimal look of most of the storefront.<\/p>\n

10. New Yorker Hotel<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The rebranded Wyndham New Yorker honors the history of the iconic New Yorker Hotel<\/strong> building by layering historical references of the art-deco era with contemporary design. A major focus of the redesign was the use of various materials and custom patterns to emulate both the art-deco inspiration and the inclusion of a modernized look.\u00a0A large-scale upgrade in the presidential suites, alternatively, follows the lobby design concept and feature wrap around terraces with a view of NYC\u2019s iconic skyline.<\/p>\n
