It is all about maximalist decor<\/strong><\/em> inside a new Montreal modern bar<\/span> Vinvinvin, designed by local studio M\u00e9nard Dworkind. It is decked out in bold bursts of colors, patterns and textures, modern furniture<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and contemporary lighting<\/strong><\/em> solutions.<\/p>\n

The concept for the wine bar<\/em> project began when the clients set up a wine tasting session with the Menard Dworking design studio during which the designers identified the nature of the wine as being \u201cnatural, unpredictable, and bright flavour\u201d in comparison to classic alternatives. This is how the idea for the modern interior design bar<\/em><\/strong> space was born.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were looking for something loud, something with a lot of colour and something that really broke the mold from traditional wine bars,\u201d said David Dworkind, co-founder of the design studio.<\/p>\n

But the thing that really shaped the design of the Vinvinvin wine bar was\u00a0the bright and vivid graphics on the bottle labels.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea to have a graphic element based on the graphics of the wine labels pushed some of the design decisions like the patterned floor tiles<\/a> in the back, the hexagonal tables and a maze we painted on the wall in the front,\u201d Dworkind said.<\/p>\n

\"Pattern<\/p>\n

A deep purple tiles that match the hue of red wine surrounds the base of the curved central bar. This is used to separate the kitchen from the main seating area in the rear, and divide the restaurant into seating zones.<\/p>\n

A hardwood floor directs guests towards the back where the flooring seamlessly becomes a patterned tile, a modern restaurant design inspired by the ebullience of natural wine labels.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is intentionally busy, but at the same time every decision was thought out and we tried to really curate the busyness and kind of created a harmonious busyness,\u201d the architect added.<\/p>\n

The service counter, a re-purposed dresser found at a vintage store, is topped with travertine and a stainless steel sink used to chill wine. The colored lights, collected from an old warehouse, adorning the wall are masked with painted steel sheets.<\/p>\n

The studio even decided to salvage wine bottles to re-design them as bar lamps<\/em>, which they designed in collaboration with Lambert et Fils.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe tried to find a new balance between contemporary design<\/a> and custom design,\u201d said Dworkind.<\/p>\n
