With its front door situated directly across from the iconic Chicago Cubs sign and entrance to the famed Wrigley Field, Dutch & Doc\u2019s reinterprets the types of social gathering spaces that existed as a nascent baseball culture in the late 1800s first took shape, connecting us through a sort of time-space continuum to one of America\u2019s oldest institutions.<\/p>\n

Somerset<\/a><\/span>: Chicago, IL.\u00a0<\/em><\/b>Somerset is the fourth collaboration between Boka Restaurant Group and AvroKO<\/strong><\/a> and the latest culinary concept from the esteemed chef Lee Wolen.\u00a0Located in the prestigious and well-heeled Gold Coast neighborhood, the AvroKO<\/strong><\/a> team derived inspiration from the 1960s and 1970s when the Kennedy-esque leisure set was in its heyday frequenting country clubs throughout America.<\/p>\n

The Zodiac Room:\u00a0New York, NY.<\/em> AvroKO<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has created a sophisticated but innovative narrative by reinterpreting classical inspirations<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> from New Formalism through a modern interior design\u00a0<\/em><\/span>lens, pioneering the local avant-garde spirit.\u00a0The overall space is divided into three experiences which leads the guest from the least formal and most animated to an enveloping and more classic dining room. The facade evokes elements of New Formalism while incorporating modern brass<\/em> screens with perforated and laser-cut detailing.<\/p>\n

Odes to the couple\u2019s love for farming, gardening, and molecular gastronomy can be found throughout the space.\u00a0Woven patterns<\/span><\/em> within the restaurant room screens<\/span> reference DNA sequencing of common kitchen herbs like basil and shallots, while a rooftop fountain has a series of stepped recesses and grooves.<\/p>\n

Waldorf Astoria Bangkok:\u00a0Bangkok, Thailand.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Taking inspiration directly from the NYC Waldorf Astoria, the Bangkok installment of Waldorf Astoria retains a distinct Art Deco vibe juxtaposed with the pattern, materiality, and vibrancy of Thai Lanna Culture<\/span>. Gorgeous local textiles<\/em>, intricate handcraft,<\/span> and detailing that exemplifies the true nature of\u00a0Thailand. These elements live in harmony with the Art Deco strength of the Waldorf brand.<\/p>\n

Penthouse Bar & Grill:\u00a0Bangkok, Thailand.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Housed in the former British Embassy in Bangkok, AvroKO<\/strong> was commissioned to envision the five separate food and beverage venues.\u00a0The design centered around a fictitious muse \u2013 a Thai-British man who is a collector and purveyor of fine arts, ceramics, and vintage car racing relics \u2013 alongside inspiration from British fashion and the lavish penthouses found in Chicago and New York.\u00a0The rooftop bar <\/span>features custom-designed<\/span> trellis\u2019 and the PDR in the restaurant is home to a wall-length cabinet holding a collection of precious and semi-precious stones<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Modern Pantry:\u00a0London, United Kingdom.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Through an investigation of Chef Anna Hansen\u2019s familial Danish roots, AvroKO<\/strong><\/a> discovered a rich history in both design, architecture, and botany that created the foundation of the two-pronged design inspiration.\u00a0The furniture, millwork, lighting, and materiality including bent plywood, teak, oak<\/em> as well as graphic tile, took a page from the classical styles of mid-century<\/span> Denmark and Northern Europe generally. For the color palette and art features, the team unearthed the Flora Danica.\u00a0Dark blue and off-white hues color the restaurant seen in the white oak bar, saturated blue menu board, patterned tile, and a dark blue pivoting screen.<\/p>\n

Boccalino:\u00a0Seoul, South Korea. <\/em><\/strong>The Italian modern interior design restaurant<\/em> was inspired by the iconic Italian design over the centuries culminating in a cross-section between the modern<\/span>, bold<\/span>, sleek<\/span> Italian designs from the 1970s juxtaposed against a quieter style of 19th<\/sup>\u00a0century Italian residential classicism. This is best exemplified with the black and white geometric floor pattern against a backdrop of Italian marble<\/em> and white Venetian plaster<\/em> walls with pops of blue accents throughout.\u00a0The color palette in the bar skews a bit warmer featuring walnut<\/em> throughout but still has its own personality with the insertion of mid-century modern furniture<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span> which adds an eclectic<\/span> flair.<\/p>\n
