The\u00a0hotel interior design<\/a><\/strong><\/em> for Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa<\/em> is truly inspired by the nostalgia surrounding the great American road trip.\u00a0Certainly, this retro nod is evident through the color\u00a0palette \u2013 full of navy & light blues, mustard yellow, shades of green \u2013 woven & striped fabric selections, and furniture & lighting styles ranging from mid-century through the 1970s.<\/p>\n

The interior design projects<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, as well as the brand identity, gleaned inspiration from graphic moments one might encounter during mobile adventurings, such as gas stations and truck stops, faux wood-panelled vehicles, sports uniforms, etc., while much of the guest experience and styling moments feature \u2018analog\u2019 leisure of decades past, such as hula hooping and jump rope.<\/p>\n

Based on the concepts of simplicity and transparency,\u00a0AvroKO<\/strong><\/em> focused on bringing a conscious approachability to the\u00a0hotel interior design<\/a><\/strong><\/em> coupled with the use and celebration of natural materials for Barry Sternlicht\u2019s first solo hotel project with Starwood Capital Group.<\/p>\n

A<\/strong><\/em>vroKO<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was able to embrace the pre-existing remnants of the building\u2019s architecture and hotel interior design<\/strong><\/em>, including exposed concrete ceilings and floors, steel columns and beams, and terracotta block masonry walls.\u00a0 Natural materials were brought into space in their raw form including woods and textiles, celebrating their original markings, veining, knots, and color variation.<\/p>\n

Locally-sourced materials were used wherever possible, including a salvaged water tank wood branded with its source used to encapsulate the wall behind the bed, as well as river stones, plant species, linen screens, and leathers all produced upstate.<\/p>\n

Space is hotel-operated on the bottom floor and the next level up is all third-party vendors. The\u00a0centerpiece tying these multiple floors together is an immense lighting design, featuring steel pipes and taut canvas drapes that almost echo market tent panels.<\/p>\n
