Last week, Oporto hosted the 1st Edition of the\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/strong>Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit<\/u><\/strong><\/em>! <\/em><\/span><\/strong>This event organized by the Covet Group gathered in Gondomar some of the top companies in the design industry like Vista Alegre,<\/a> Michaelangelo Foundation,<\/a>Top\u00e1zio or\u00a0<\/a>Boca do Lobo<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Today, Inspirations & Ideas<\/span><\/strong> will bring you all the highlights!<\/p>\n

During the 2 Days of the\u00a0Luxury Design & Craftsmanshit<\/u><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Summit.<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0the guests were gifted with several Live Showcases of several traditional Arts & Crafts of Portugal<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, namely Filigree, Tilling, Arraiolos, Renda de Bilros, Goldening, Jewellery Craft, Upholstery and Wood Work<\/span><\/strong><\/a>! These showcases promoted a strong bonding between the Audience and the Artisans and the end result was amazing!<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

The Luxury Design & Craftsmanshit<\/u>\u00a0Summit <\/span><\/strong>o<\/span>pening Session was conducted by Amandio Pereira, CEO of the\u00a0Covet Group.<\/a>\u00a0His opening words reinforced the importance of Craftsmanship to the Covet Group, but also to Portugal and the Furniture Industry. The first day ended with the First Panel of the Summit entitled \u201cThe value of Craftsmanship For the luxury World\u201d. This panel had the contribution of\u00a0Amandio Pereira, CEO of the Covet Group<\/strong>;\u00a0Nicole Segundo, Representative\/ Network Developer to Portugal for the\u00a0Michaelangelo Foundation<\/a><\/span>; F\u00e1tima Santos, General Secretary of the\u00a0AORP<\/a><\/span>; Luis Onofre, entrepreneur, shoemaker and CEO of the\u00a0Luis Onofre brand<\/a>;<\/span> and Antonio Moura, business developer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

What was the\u00a0Luxury Design & Craftsmanshit<\/u><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Summit <\/strong><\/span>panel about? The main focus was the relation between\u00a0Luxury Goods & Design and the Traditional Arts or Ancient crafts.<\/strong>\u00a0The end result was amazing and the speakers delivered a strong panel! The debate that followed was powerful and full of design ideas and opportunities and, in the end, craftsmanship was highlighted and the discussion that resulted from this amazing debate in the Luxury Design & Craftsmanshit<\/u><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Summit\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>surely forged a better path for the future for the industry!<\/p>\n

The 2nd Panel of Luxury Design & Craftsmanshit<\/u><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Summit\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>opened\u00a0the Day 2 of the event. Entitled\u00a0Design as a Driving Force of Local Craftsmanship<\/span>, <\/strong><\/em>this panel focus on the evolution of design<\/em> <\/strong>and interior design<\/strong><\/em>, which started to be as branches of architecture, an industry that was always understood as the major art. And if the interior design<\/strong><\/em> segment was considered a component of architecture, the design of clothing, furniture, jewelry and other common artifacts were also left mostly to tradition or artisans specializing in handmade products.\u00a0The Panel had the contribution of\u00a0Fernando Caetano (Moderator), director of Open Media; Jo\u00e3o Branco e Luis Sanch\u00e9z, fashion designers and CEO\u2019s of the Storytailors Fashion Studio<\/a><\/span>; Toni Grilo, product designer of Top\u00e1zio<\/a><\/span>; Alda Tom\u00e1s, designer of Vista Alegre<\/a><\/span>; Serena Confalonieri, designer; Francesca Merciari, artisan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After an eventful morning with a magnificent panel about the origins of craftsmanship and its connection with the design industry, the\u00a0Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0resume its agenda with a discussion about luxury design<\/strong><\/em>!\u00a0What makes a Luxury Brand and how do you create one? This was the focal point of the third and last panel of this event entitled: \u201cLuxury Branding: Behind the Scenes Story\u201d!<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

This panel\u00a0had the moderation of\u00a0M\u00f3nica Seabra-Mendes, the Luxury Management Program Coordinator of Universidade Catolica, and had the participation of Marco Costa, COO and Creative Director of Boca do Lobo<\/span>;<\/a> Jorge Martins, founder of RomBoats; Carlos Santos, CEO and Creative Director of Santos Shoes; and Carla Gra\u00e7a, Marketing Manager of Vista Alegre<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

All in all, the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit<\/strong><\/span><\/a> was a success! The 2nd Edition of\u00a0Luxury Design & Craftsmanshit<\/u><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Summit<\/strong><\/span> will take place in Paris, France, in January of 2019! So don\u2019t miss it!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
